Zircon

Zircon is a highly resistant silicate mineral that can survive extreme temperatures and geological processes. The oldest solid evidence from the Hadean Eon comes from zircon crystals. Their isotopic compositions provide clues about early Earth’s temperature, the presence of water, and crust formation. For this reason, zircons are considered geological archives of early Earth history.
